something blue

working on the "somethings" lately. here's how it's going down.....

something old: the buttons off the back of my mom's wedding dress, added to the back of mine
something new: my dress, which is IN and patiently awaiting my arrival to pick it up this tuesday!!! aaah!
something borrowed: gma nancy's wedding veil, which, fingers crossed, will work well with my champagne dress and can be worn during the ceremony
something blue: some sassy little heels, which will make ben and i the exact same height if ben is wearing his dress shoes and not slouching. no slouching ben!

.
.
blue shoes and gma nancy's veil. yay 50's!

cute.

mom's wedding veil. not digging the 80's thing going on... but mom and i are going to take pieces and make a veil/headband to wear for the reception :)

2 months 2 go

TWO MONTHS FROM TODAY...

dun dun duuuuuuuun

ooh wait. I meant dun dun dun duuuun dun dun dun duuuuun ;)

so we are at the two month mark. I'm crossing my fingers that in two months we will have some actual summer weather... I'm just saying.
anywho, current projects include figuring out our ceremony and working on our different centerpieces/table numbering stuff

ceremony:
- need a pianist
- Bible passage for service
- songs for ceremony
-  unity candle/sand ceremony? gotta figure that out

centerpieces:
- We love to take road trips and travel together. So we are working on incorporating our different adventures into different table centerpieces. Right now we need to go through and find some fun pictures and mementos from the different places we have been, as well as the good ole places that we have liked to hang out together over the years. fun :)
-guest book/ well wishes cards... what about "post cards" from the places we've been?

ooh yes and we did our cake testing this last Thursday...... delicious! We will have a smaller 3-tier cake for show and then extra cakes that are not as wonderfully decorated, but taste just as amazing. yellow cake with raspberry and then a small carrot cake. mmhmmm

yesterday, ben decided that we should go out for brunch so we went to devon in bayshore. it was a super sweet summer brunch date :) very tasty! thanks ben!

& that's enough senseless babble or now

invites mailed!

ben and i both had off yesterday!! and it was sunny and warm!! whoohoo!

we got our invites all put together and addressed and (dun dun duuuun) in the mail. pretty much awesome. those suckers were a buck eight each to mail, so we figured we would have to have some nasty looking stamps on them.... which was almost what happened.... (think... stamp with pine trees-esque) but then ben busted out some math skills and BAM! 2 stamps, end of story. one with a wedding cake and one with some roses. not bad.

SOO00 invites are mailed. right on time. booya

next up: tomorrow night we are driving to sun prairie to taste test cake! i'm completely game for that.... yuuuuummmmm

since we were in lake mills last night, jessica grabbed a camera and we went over to a park near the lake and did some impromptu engagement pictures.  i think we both acted a bit chandler, but it was a good time. jessica went all rogue and was crawling through tall grass and popping out from behind bushes while brianna walked around with a straw hat telling bad jokes to get us loosened up. it must have been quite the sight to behold! i'm pumped to see how the pictures turn out... especially after jess does some "post production" on them :)

it's going to thunderstorm... which i love. but it's really going to put a damper on my shopping trips today. (baby stuff for allison/jake and wedding gifts because here comes wedding season!)

catnip kitties

My cats, Paris and Nicole, have been hitting the catnip unusually hard recently. A few days ago, Nicole was all hopped up on the kitty nip and decided to go out on the balcony.... tip toe across a window sill..... and jump onto the neighbor's balcony..... which is 3 stories up, and a good 15 feet away. Tonight, Paris did the same exact thing.

I see an intervention in the very near future. The sassy back talking, poking my face while I'm sleeping, stealing my pillow, and climbing up the window screen isn't cute. And it's affecting Paris' level of personal hygiene.

Speak of the devil, Paris is now playing with electrical cords. Gotta run.

hello june!

& just like that, it's june!! come on sunshine and warm weather.... i've been waiting ooh so patiently..... which i don't do well....

sooooo much has been done!
  • our invitations arrived!!! they are pretty/whimsical/classic/awesome. ben and i have spent the last couple of afternoons/nights putting together the pieces and getting them addressed. apparently, they are going to be a dollar and 8 cents each to mail.... so we will be handing out a large number of them directly :) and for whatever reason, getting the invites with our names on them and all made me super giddy. aaaaaaaah we are getting married!!!!!!! 2.5-ish months to go seems to have been the reality check for me... i'm not one to get too worked up about stuff too far in the future, being more of a "right now" to "this week" kind of person. well 2-ish months now falls into that category
  • color scheme has been locked in: black and cream with little accents of blush pinks and gold. here's to compromise :)
  •  bridesmaid dresses have been ordered. cute little things, black on black with a modern vintage twist
  • final details have been nailed down for the reception site
  • ben and i have been scanning in childhood pictures so Jess can make an amazing video for the wedding
  • got in touch with the dj about what's going down august 13th

i'm excited x10 today.

on memorial day, ben and i went to the milwaukee public museum to see the mummies exhibit. i had wanted to see it super bad, and monday was the last day.... and we both had off of work... and even though it was gorgeous outside, we spent a couple of hours in the museum. because i'm a huge dork.

anywho, it was so freaking amazing! it boggled my mind. i had to see it all. i had to read it all. i had some comments, i had some questions. poor ben followed me around as i read every description and asked him a gazillion random questions and then another gazillion random questions on the way home. he said he really enjoyed it too, just not to the dorky level that i did :)
