merry christmas kiddos

I'm going to be honest, I thought about doing a Pinteresty-lovey-dovey-oh-how-adorbs type Christmas card this year. We clean up nice.

Picture it: Snow gently falling as we tenderly embrace along the lake shore. A sweet kiss on the forehead with the city lights twinkling behind us. Holding hands and looking backwards over our shoulders while cheesing for the camera.  Or maybe a smile-worthy, heart warming mishap with a string of lights, tangling us together into a PG-13 kiss.

Then I realized that's silly. We don't skip around town gazing into each other's eyeballs. Well, not all the time.... and besides, that's what everyone else is doing. Which is lame. Because I've walked around and I hardly ever see people striking a traditional Christmas card pose during my day to day activities.

So I present to you, Ben & Brit's real life Christmas card(s):
cats wearing clothes, cell phone, wine, mess.

Merry Christmas :)

Summer? That you?

Welcome to May....

- It may be summer

MKE Riverwalk

warm enough for a grill out

- Ben may have cancelled our gym membership for a  9 day stint before realizing that is exactly what I wanted and re-instating forced gym-going back into my life

- Paris & Nicole may have emptied a full container of catnip all over the living room floor and rolled around in it until we found them twitching like little drug addicts

- We may be living in this here apartment just until the end of August, and then headed lordy knows where. Stay in Milwaukee? Head south towards Deerfield, IL? Seriously, let's just go West already and live in Vegas for a year?

- I may be finishing a glass of wine and a cup of coffee right now. The wine was going to skunk any minute now. And I make a conscience effort to refrain from wasteful habits, and to have variety in my life.

- Paris has really started to ramp up her under covers exploration missions. She may or may not get squished one of these times.

- Since it's warm out, Ben and I have been taking a lot of walks around downtown, and we may have searched out patio dining the last two nights. Sunday afternoon = Rock Bottom Brewery and Monday night = Belair Cantina

 - Thursday nights are ladies' night at Oak. I may have attended.

- Since we live right on the river and I have a self-diagnosed addiction to just how cute ducks happen to be, I may be stockpiling old bread and rolls to feed to those adorable little quacks. Old bread now outnumbers new bread in our household, which seems like an amazing notion, but lame geese outnumber adorable ducks on the river. And I am not about to go and feed those winged devils.

- And finally, FAKE PROM 2013 was a splendid and magical night under the stars. But more on that later. Maybe.

Paris & Nicole

Here's some pictures of our cats-- Paris & Nicole. Because they are so zany, and this is my blog, and those are both really great reasons.

Crazy eyes

My cats are drug users. Thy have all the tell-tale signs; hallucinations, feelings of grandeur (Nicole is practicing her Olympic-worthy soccer skills), zoning out and babbling (Paris), running into walls, and general crazy in their eyes.

I know whatsup.

Besides, I was the one to give them all this kitty catnip.

Snowman snow

It snowed all day today.... The good stuff, PERFECT of creating a masterpiece snowman!!

And after creating a masterpiece snowman... PERFECT for Ben to cat-nap Paris and bring her outside to personally meet the snowman. Nicole lucked out and got to view the snowman from inside.

Coffee cat

Paris and I shared an intimate cup of joe the other day. She's slowing getting over her seasonally affected disorder (S.A.D.), so we are all pretty happy for her.

From a brilliant mind to the brilliant phone

Guess who has two thumbs and got a brilliant phone for Christmas?

This girl.

And guess who finally figured out how to blog from her brilliant phone?

This girl.

That's right folks, I will eventually figure out how master this smart phone, who can be a bit of a smartass at times. I think a few ground rules need to be put in place. Like quit trying to guess what I'm going to write brilliant phone, and quit autocorrecting everything. Maybe I WAS trying to type "hoelsu".... Don't act like you know me.

Sister Branners and I went to the Packer vs Vikings playoff game in Green Bay this last Saturday. It was fantastic, and cold, and everything a playoff game in Lambeau should be. I absolutely adore that place!!

Super Bowl here we come!!!!

My New Year's Resolution:

To make a New Year's resolution

-------------------

Ben and I are moderately concerned about Paris and her seasonally affected depression.

This morning I caught her trying to squeeze herself into a plastic grocery bag that was on the kitchen counter. I'm going to put her on suicide watch until she gets her life on track.

-----------------

In other late breaking news, I found our car's GPS. Naturally, it was in the living room couch cushions.

gobble gobble lick lick

IT'S BASICALLY TURKEY DAY!!

yum

Today, I will get my Betty Crocker on, and try to create an edible apple pie masterpiece to bring to family turkey day. There is no middle ground here... it will either be a splendid surprise, or a god-awful disaster. Because that's how I roll.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

After my work meeting yesterday morning, I rushed home on a full tank of caffeinated coffee and attacked our apartment with Christmas decorations. It's great! But it's Christmas decorating... and in my humble but always correct opinion... that means you could always use a little more tinsel and twinkling lights. I'm unsupervised for the majority of the day today, and awake way too early thanks to Paris wiping kitty boogers on me until I woke up, so let's see what trouble I can get into.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

According to local sources, I will be doing my first ever Black Friday shopping with my sister within 48 hours of right now. Yikes.

photo bomb like aaron

I saw this little ditty about Aaron Rogers being a photo-bomber.... it's like the man could not get any cooler if he tried. Photobombing is an underappreciated art

Packer win tonight against Detroit. Ugly win, but still a win, so I'll have it please and thank you.

=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Ben, Nathan, and I saw the final Twilight movie tonight. Not necessarily a fan, but we felt like we might as well round out the saga by seeing the finale....

Movie Spoiler Alert... some vampire heads get ripped clean off their bodies. And I'm a horrible person who was obviously raised as a boy during my impressionable formative years, because I had a decent chuckle while the tween behind me had a decent emotional breakdown.

=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Every so often, when there is a crazy huge orange moon, or some whack-a-do walks into work and says something ridiculous, or I notice some grocery store boy watching me pick out a cucumber... (seriously, they put those things on the bottom shelf and wait for you to come over and pick out a good one. dirty grocers )... cutting to the chase here....the idea that The Truman Show is actually taking place in current real-time as "The Britani Show" seems plausible.

I decided to mention this idea to Ben while we were driving to LM the other night. I think he expects me to think of obnoxious things like that and NOT  keep them to myself, but just word vomit them all over the place like I usually do.

Anywho, Ben was completely unfazed, and apparently, the cats and Ben are all paid actors on "The Britani Show." He should stop enabling me.

But... I'm pretty sure that this absurd thought has crossed someone else's  mind at some point.... right? No? Yeah, me neither.

the cat bit my elbow

We went to Indy for the Packer game... and it was very fun. Minus the complete crap loss. Details on luxury tenting to come...

+++++++

Yesterday, I had to be to work at 7am for inventory, which meant I was physically there ten minutes late and mentally showed up 3 hours into it.

Anywho, while I was at work trying to support our strange little family, Ben was at home watching Prison Break on Netflix. When I got home last night and we were both jumping around the living room in our Matthews jerseys (green and pink, respectively) during a commercial break from the Packers/Texans game, he told me about his day:

" I was laying on the couch, and Nicole came right up to me and so I picked her up and she laid by me on the couch. I put the blanket over her, and she slept by me purring for like 30 minutes! She was so cute! Then, I got off the couch and sat on the floor and she got up and bit my elbow. Then she jumped off the couch and kept biting my elbow and she even bit my hand!  So I bit her head. "

I was laughing during this very serious story he was telling me, and laughing even harder when he found the cat and showed me how he bit her head.

Like I said, strange little family.
