To preface this... I don't do mornings. I hate getting up to a stupid alarm, even if it is fun music I downloaded to my phone from the Internet. So I've had Ben make sure that I'm awake by the time he is leaving in the morning. I'm still not a ball of sunshine, but it makes things easier -ish.
A couple of days ago, I was having an extremely hard time getting out of my heavenly bed. Ben tried to wake me up multiple times, but I was not having it and was sleep talking some babble nonsense to him. So Ben goes and finds our little Paris, who had been trotting around after him all morning with her bell collar twinkling as he got ready for work. He scooped up that little black furball of repressed teenage angst (probably from being the runt of the litter), plopped her on my chest, and said-- and I quote-- "Paris, you need to wake her up." Then he gave me a kiss and left for work.
Well that little brat took her job as serious as a senator... she would do anything for a win. I don't know if Ben had some sort of crash course with her, or if she has just been watching too much TV, because she sat on my chest and slapped my face until I couldn't stand it anymore. She's little, so I continually threw her off the bed. But she would sneak right back up and poke and slap me some more. She's scrappy, and her game plan was obviously to be patient and wear me out. Think lone lion taking down an elephant. Paris: 1 Brit: 0
Today she did this little game without Ben telling her to. She added in this great bit where she tries to scratch the covers off me. I'm restricting her TV and Internet use.
xoxo, b
