get your kicks on route 66

it's adventure time!!

Yesterday, we were up at 2am -ish so that we could be at the Milwaukee airport by 3:30 ish.... to be on our flight to Detroit, MI.....to get onto our flight to Phoenix, AZ, and arrive by 10:20am. We picked up our rental car, "LT," ("little turd", an ugly HHR complete with a light poop brown coloring), and started driving towards the Grand Canyon.

When we arrived in Phoenix, it was warm and low 60's. We saw sun, cactus, and sand. As we drove into the mountains, the sun turned to overcast, the cactus turned to evergreens, and the sand turned to snow. Near the Arizona Continental Divide (elevation7335), we were in a white out snowstorm. What?! We had been so jacked up on coffee and lack of sleep, that we were legitimately considering whether or not we had spent the morning traveling to Arizona, or if we had dreamed the whole thing and were still back home in Wisconsin.....

Coming back out of the mountains, the sun, cactus and sand returned.... much to our relief

Last night we stopped right off Historic Route 66 in Kingman, AZ. Today we see the GRAND CANYON!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!! and waaaaaaaaaay giddy because this girl got 13 hours of sleep last night (compared to the 2 hours the previous night)

I'm ready to rock.

p.s. Ben is addicted to 4square.... so he has been "checking in" everywhere. I find it amusing :)
